Theme: Don’t Stop Praying
Scripture: 2Nephi 14:12 But behold I say unto you, that ye must pray always, and not faint: that ye must not perform anything unto the Lord, save in the first place ye shall pray unto the Father in the name of Christ, that he will consecrate thy performance unto thee, that thy performance may be for the welfare of thy soul.
Song Ideas: “Did You Think to Pray” “Don’t Stop Praying” Matthew West
Discussion: Jesus told a story about a judge who was not a very good man. In the same city, there lived a widow who had been swindled in some way. She came to the bad judge for help to get her money back. The judge ignored her. But the widow kept coming to the judge, over and over and over, she didn’t give up .
Finally, the judge decided to help just so the widow would leave him alone. Jesus’s point with this story was that it is much more effective to make our requests in prayer to God who hears our prayers, loves us, and provides for our needs. Read the story of Enos - his life was prayer
Activities: Set a daily alarm on your phone and label it “Did you think to pray” to remind yourself to pray every day. Or, put a post-it note or index card on your mirror or refrigerator with the words “Did you think to pray”. Or, cross off the day on your calendar only after you have prayed that day. For kids, add morning or evening prayers to chore charts.
Directed Prayer time related to the theme: Lord may my heart always be tuned to prayer.
