Sermon Focus Points
►Why did the Lord keep the children of God in the wilderness for 40 years? (1) To humble them, (2) To prove them, (3) To allow them to know their own hearts, (4) To allow them to see if they would keep His commandments.
►We should consider those four reasons in our own lives, as individuals, and as a church body.
►Christian life has suffered great loss because we as believers, have not been distinctively led that nothing is more natural and beautiful than to be “nothing”, so that God can be everything.
►It is not sin that humbles us, but God’s grace.
►The closer we draw to Jesus, the more we become aware of his righteousness, with the gap between us and God, filled by the sacrifice of Jesus for out sins.
►When we recognize the holiness of God, all of our pride crumbles. We need to become humble in the sight of the Lord.
►Humility is recognizing that we can’t save ourselves, and we are dependent upon God’s grace to save us.
►Humility towards others is the only sufficient proof that our humility to God is real.
►Words in the Bible meaning proof: (1) nacah: means lift or way, (2) bachan: means to try by heat or fire, (3) dokimazo: means to test, (4) peirazo: means to tempt
►God works with great wisdom to expose our evil.
►The Lord wants us to know what is in our own hearts.
►We need to feed the Spirit of God in our lives. Character, personality and mind are critical parts of ourselves that we need to feed.
►Keeping God’s commandments is an expression of our love towards God.
►When we love on another, we show that we value each other.
►Understanding follows obedience.
