Sermon Overview (8:17)
► Jesus spent time on earth in ministry to mankind, offering both physical and spiritual healings.
► Jesus was proclaimed as the son of God, and sought to redeem all people through him.
► Jerusalem means “Founded Peaceful” or “The Foundation of Peace”, but this city that Jesus came to on Palm Sunday was not a peaceful city.
► Jesus’s entry into Jerusalem was not a majestic and triumphant entry that great Generals utilized. Jesus entered Jerusalem in a humble way riding on a donkey.
► Jesus came to Jerusalem offering peace, but Jerusalem did not understand those things that comprise peace.
► Great persecution is brought upon the believers of Jesus Christ, and the people of Jerusalem were scattered.
► Jesus offered salvation, and the people of Jerusalem rejected Jesus. Jerusalem consequently was destroyed in 70 A.D., as a result of a Roman siege.
► Joseph Smith, Jr., predicted carnage of wars upon the earth on December 25th, 1832, starting with The Civil War Prophecy. The Civil War was followed by many wars, including World War I, World War II.
► When asked which person has left the most permanent impression on history, H.G. Wells said that when judging a person’s greatness by historical standards, “By this test, Jesus stands first”.
► The gospel has been sent to all nations. God denies no one that comes unto Him, without regard for race, stature, or gender.
► Jesus provides the blood that makes all men brothers. If any man confesses that Jesus is the Christ, he will be saved.
► Jesus calls unto us today. Jesus will return upon the earth, riding a white horse, proclaiming the word of god. This will be a triumphant entry, of our Lord and Savior, coming victorious again.
► Man will weep because of their iniquities, and man will lament because they persecuted their King.
► Jesus offers a peace unto each and every one of us. Let not your hearts be trouble or afraid.
► It is the business of this church to proclaim Jesus Christ. The peace Jesus offers is found by having a broken heart and a contrite spirit, and with a renewal of faith.
