Psalms 105:1-5
1 Oh give thanks unto the Lord; call upon his name;
make known his deeds among the people.
2 Sing unto him, sing psalms unto him;
talk ye of all his wondrous works.
3 Glory ye in his holy name;
let the heart of them rejoice that seek the Lord.
4 Seek the Lord, and his strength; seek his face evermore.
5 Remember his marvelous works that he hath done;
his wonders and the judgments of his mouth;

2 Nephi 14:11-12
11 For if ye would hearken unto the spirit
which teacheth a man to pray,
ye would know that ye must pray:
for the evil spirit teacheth not a man to pray,
but teacheth him that he must not pray.
12 But behold I say unto you, that ye must pray always,
and not faint: that ye must not perform anything unto the Lord,
save in the first place
ye shall pray unto the Father in the name of Christ,
that he will consecrate thy performance unto thee,
that thy performance may be for the welfare of thy soul.

James 1:2-5
2 My brethren, count it all joy when ye fall into many afflictions;
3 Knowing this, that the trying of your faith worketh patience.
4 But let patience have its perfect work,
that ye may be perfect and entire, wanting nothing.
5 If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God,
that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not;
and it shall be given him.

Daniel 1:4-5
4 Then the presidents and princes sought to
find occasion against Daniel concerning the kingdom;
but they could find none occasion nor fault;
forasmuch as he was faithful,
neither was there any error or fault found in him.
5 Then said these men,
We shall not find any occasion against this Daniel,
except we find it against him concerning the law of his God.

Daniel 1:10-11, 16-17, 20-21
10 Now when Daniel knew that the writing was signed,
he went into his house; and,
his windows being open in his chamber toward Jerusalem,
he kneeled upon his knees three times a day, and prayed,
and gave thanks before his God, as he did aforetime.
11 Then these men assembled,
and found Daniel praying and making supplication before his God.
16 Then the king commanded, and they brought Daniel,
and cast him into the den of lions.
Now the king spake and said unto Daniel,
Thy God whom thou servest continually, he will deliver thee.
17 And a stone was brought, and laid upon the mouth of the den;
and the king sealed it with his own signet,
and with the signet of his lords;
that the purpose might not be changed concerning Daniel.
20 And when he came to the den,
he cried with a lamentable voice unto Daniel,
and the king spake and said to Daniel, O Daniel,
servant of the living God, is thy God,
whom thou servest continually,
able to deliver thee from the lions?
21 Then said Daniel unto the king, O king, live forever.

Jeremiah 29-12-13
12 Then shall ye call unto me, and ye shall go
and pray unto me, and I will hearken unto you.
13 And ye shall seek me, and find me,
when ye shall search for me with all your heart.

Acts 12:1-11, 13-17, 21-24
1 Now about that time Herod the king
stretched forth his hands to vex certain of the church,
2 And he killed James the brother of John with the sword.
3 And because he saw it pleased the Jews,
he proceeded further to take Peter also.
(Then were the days of unleavened bread.)
4 And when he had apprehended him, he put him in prison,
and delivered him to four quaternions of soldiers to keep him;
intending after Easter to bring him forth to the people.
5 Peter therefore was kept in prison;
but prayer was made without ceasing of the church unto God for him.
6 And when Herod would have brought him forth,
the same night Peter was sleeping between two soldiers,
bound with two chains; and the keepers before the door kept the prison.
7 And, behold, the angel of the Lord came unto him,
and a light shined in the prison; and he smote Peter on the side,
and raised him up, saying, Arise up quickly.
And his chains fell off from his hands.
8 And the angel said unto him, Gird thyself, and bind on thy sandals;
and so he did. And he saith unto him,
Cast thy garment about thee, and follow me.
9 And he went out, and followed him;
and wist not that it was true which was done by the angel;
but thought he saw a vision.
10 When they were past the first and the second ward,
they came unto the iron gate that leadeth unto the city;
which opened to them of his own accord; and they went out,
and passed on through one street;
and forthwith the angel departed from him.
11 And when Peter was come to himself, he said,
Now I know of a surety, that the Lord hath sent his angel,
and hath delivered me out of the hand of Herod,
and from all the expectation of the people of the Jews.
13 And as Peter knocked at the door of the gate,
a damsel came to hearken, named Rhoda.
14 And when she knew Peter’s voice,
she opened not the gate for gladness,
but ran in, and told how Peter stood before the gate.
15 And they said unto her, Thou art mad.
But she constantly affirmed that it was even so.
Then said they, It is his angel.
16 But Peter continued knocking;
and when they had opened the door,
and saw him, they were astonished.
17 But he, beckoning unto them with the hand to hold their peace,
declared unto them how the Lord had brought him out of the prison.
And he said, Go show these things unto James,
and to the brethren. And he departed, and went into another place.
21 And upon a set day Herod, arrayed in royal apparel,
sat upon his throne, and made an oration unto them.
22 And the people gave a shout, saying,
It is the voice of a god, and not of a man.
23 And immediately the angel of the Lord smote him,
because he gave not God the glory;
and he was eaten of worms, and gave up the ghost.
24 But the word of God grew and multiplied.

James 5:13-16
13 Is any among you afflicted? let him pray.
Is any merry? let him sing psalms.
14 Is any sick among you? let him call for the elders of the church;
and let them pray over him,
anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord;
15 And the prayer of faith shall save the sick,
and the Lord shall raise him up; and if he have committed sins,
they shall be forgiven him.
16 Confess your faults one to another,
and pray one for another, that ye may be healed.
The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.

Hebrews 13:20-21
20 Now the God of peace,
that brought again from the dead our Lord Jesus,
that great Shepherd of the sheep,
through the blood of the everlasting covenant,
21 Make you perfect in every good work to do his will,
working in you that which is well pleasing in his sight,
through Jesus Christ; to whom be glory forever and ever. Amen.

Sermon Focus Points
►One of the foundations of our Restored Gospel, is at the times in our lives when we are confused, uncomfortable, and struggling, God provides us the opportunity to reach out to Him in prayer.
►When separately from our loved ones, whether it be friends, family or church family, we must remember to use any means to keep in contact and let your loved ones know you will pray for them.
►When you find yourself in a challenging situation, what is your response? Do we recognize the blessings we have already received from God?
►There is power in prayer, whether it be personal prayer or united prayer as we pray together as the body of Christ.
►When we have afflictions, discomfort, and loneliness, remember to pray, and seek administration from the Elders.
►While our wanderings bring us many sorrows and lose us many blessings (life isn’t always easy), to the heart which truly chooses God, He has graciously said: “I will never leave thee nor forsake thee” (it is worth it).
