Matthew 5:48
48 For if ye love only them which love you, what reward have you?
Do not even the publicans the same?

Alma 3:83-86
83 And I say unto you, that I know that Jesus Christ shall come;
yea, the Son, the only begotten of the Father,
full of grace, and mercy, and truth.
84 And behold, it is he that cometh
to take away the sins of the world;
yea, the sins of every man
who steadfastly believeth on his name.
85 And now I say unto you, that this is the order
after which I am called; yea, to preach unto my beloved brethren;
yea, and every one that dwelleth in the land;
86 Yea, to preach unto all, both old and young,
both bond and free; yea, I say unto you, the aged,
and also the middle aged, and the rising generation;
yea, to cry unto them that they must repent and be born again;

Genesis 15:12

Isaiah 9:6

The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.
****************************************************************
Isaiah 53:2-5
2 For he shall grow up before him as a tender plant,
and as a root out of a dry ground; he hath no form nor comeliness;
and when we shall see him,
there is no beauty that we should desire him.
3 He is despised and rejected of men; a man of sorrows,
and acquainted with grief; and we hid as it were our faces from him;
he was despised, and we esteemed him not.
4 Surely he hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows;
yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted.
5 But he was wounded for our transgressions,
he was bruised for our iniquities;
the chastisement of our peace was upon him;
and with his stripes we are healed.
****************************************************************
Leviticus 17:11

and I have given it to you upon the altar
to make an atonement for your souls;
for it is the blood that maketh an atonement for the soul.

****************************************************************
John 8:10-11
10 When Jesus had raised up himself, and saw none of her accusers,
and the woman standing, he said unto her, Woman,
where are those thine accusers? hath no man condemned thee?
11 She said, No man, Lord. And Jesus said unto her,
Neither do I condemn thee; go, and sin no more.
And the woman glorified God from that hour,
and believed on his name.
****************************************************************
Matthew 4:3-4
3…he said, If thou be the Son of God,
command that these stones be made bread.
4 But Jesus answered and said, It is written,
Man shall not live by bread alone,
but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God.
****************************************************************
John 13:13-17
13 Ye call me Master and Lord; and ye say well; for so I am.
14 If I then, your Lord and Master, have washed your feet;
ye also ought to wash one another’s feet.
15 For I have given you an example,
that ye should do as I have done to you.
16 Verily, verily, I say unto you,
The servant is not greater than his lord;
neither he that is sent greater than he that sent him.
17 If ye know these things, happy are ye if ye do them.
****************************************************************
Matthew 23:9

Matthew 23:20
20 Woe unto you, Scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites!
For ye pay tithe of mint, and anise, and cummin;
and have omitted the weightier things of the law;
judgment, mercy, and faith; these ought ye to have done,
and not to leave the other undone.

Luke 2:41-52
41 Now his parents went to Jerusalem every year at the feast of the passover.
42 And when he was twelve years old, they went up to Jerusalem, after the custom, to the feast.
43 And when they had fulfilled the days, as they returned, the child Jesus tarried behind, in Jerusalem; and Joseph and his mother knew not that he tarried;
44 But they, supposing him to have been in the company, went a day’s journey; and they sought him among his kindred and acquaintance,
45 And when they found him not, they turned back again to Jerusalem, seeking him.
46 And it came to pass, after three days they found him in the temple, sitting in the midst of the doctors, and they were hearing him, and asking him questions.
47 And all who heard him were astonished at his understanding, and answers.
48 And when his parents saw him, they were amazed;
and his mother said unto him, Son, why hast thou thus dealt with us?
Behold, thy father and I have sought thee sorrowing.
49 And he said unto them, Why is it that ye sought me?
Knew ye not that I must be about my Father’s business?
50 And they understood not the saying which he spake unto them.
51 And he went down with them, and came to Nazareth, and was subject unto them. And his mother kept all these sayings in her heart.
52 And Jesus increased in wisdom and stature, and in favor with God and man.

Joshua 24:15
15 And if it seem evil unto you to serve the Lord,
choose you this day whom ye will serve;
whether the gods which your fathers served
that were on the other side of the flood,
or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land ye dwell;
but as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.

Doctrine & Covenants 4:1a-2b
1a Now, behold, a marvelous work is about to
come forth among the children of men,
1b therefore, O ye that embark in the service of God,
see that ye serve him with all your heart, might, mind, and strength,
that ye may stand blameless before God at the last day;
1c therefore, if ye have desires to serve God,
ye are called to the work, for, behold,
the field is white already to harvest,
1d and lo, he that thrusteth in his sickle with his might,
the same layeth up in store that he perish not,
but bringeth salvation to his soul;
1e and faith, hope, charity, and love,
with an eye single to the glory of God, qualifies him for the work.
2a Remember, faith, virtue, knowledge, temperance, patience,
brotherly kindness, godliness, charity, humility, diligence.
2b Ask and ye shall receive,
knock and it shall be opened unto you. Amen.
****************************************************************
Doctrine & Covenants 22:23a-23b
23a And the Lord God spake unto Moses, saying, The heavens,
they are many and they can not be numbered unto man,
but they are numbered unto me, for they are mine;
and as one earth shall pass away, and the heavens thereof,
even so shall another come;
23b and there is no end to my works, neither to my words;
for this is my work and my glory,
to bring to pass the immortality, and eternal life of man.
****************************************************************
Romans 12:1-2
1 I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God,
that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy,
acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service.
2 And be not conformed to this world;
but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind,
that ye may prove what that good, and acceptable,
and perfect will of God is.
****************************************************************
Alma 3:27-30
27 And now behold, I ask of you, my brethren of the church,
Have ye spiritually been born of God?
28 Have ye received his image in your countenances?
29 Have ye experienced this mighty change in your hearts?
30 Do ye exercise faith in the redemption of him who created you?
****************************************************************
Alma 3:38-39
38 I say unto you, Can ye think of being saved
when you have yielded yourselves to become subjects to the devil?
39 I say unto you, Ye will know at that day,
that ye can not be saved: for there can no man be saved
except his garments are washed white:
****************************************************************
Alma 3:46-48
46 And now behold, I say unto you my brethren,
If ye have experienced a change of heart,
and if ye have felt to sing the song of redeeming love,
I would ask, Can ye feel so now?
47 Have ye walked, keeping yourselves blameless before God?
48 Could ye say, if ye were called to die at this time,
within yourselves, that ye have been sufficiently humble?
****************************************************************
Alma 3:50
50 Behold, are ye stripped of pride? I say unto you,
If ye are not, ye are not prepared to meet God.
****************************************************************
Alma 3:57
57 Behold, he sendeth an invitation unto all men;
for the arms of mercy are extended towards them,
and he saith, Repent, and I will receive you;
****************************************************************
Alma 3:62-62
62 Behold, I say unto you, that the good shepherd doth call you;
yea, and in his own name he doth call you,
which is the name of Christ;
3:63 And if ye will not hearken unto the voice of the good shepherd,
to the name by which ye are called, behold,
ye are not the sheep of the good shepherd.
3:64 And now if ye are not the sheep of the good shepherd,
of what fold are ye?

Sermon Focus Points
►Satan will work on your soul, pointing out your shortcomings.
►Jesus Christ was often despised aand rejected, yet Jesus would fulfill the needs of the people.
►Isaiah writes that Jesus would be a leader who could guide, counsel and comfort them. But the people choose to reject Jesus.
►The Law of Moses, which required sacrifices, was necessary for the Jews in the day before Jesus came to earth.
►Jesus Christ came as the last sacrifice mankind would ever need, the only person who could attone for all sin, because he was God’s flesh.
►Today, we recognize the purity of Christ, and the blood shed for us, that we might receive God’s grace, mercy and protection.
►Regardless of our circumstances, we should rejoice in the Lord, and live like we are saved.
►We must be careful not to get caught up in the things of the world, fearful of what’s to come, and what other people will think of us.
►We need to remember God is control of everything.
►God sent His son to the world, not to condemn the world, but through him, that the world might be saved.
►Jesus did many thing besides saving us. Jesus forgave others. Jesus resisted temptation. Jesus was a healer. Jesus stood firm in the truth.
►We can use scriptures to resist temptations in life. We can be sustained by the spirit and word of God, and not the temptations of the physical world.
►Pride separates us from God, when we believe our own will is more important than God’s will.
►Faith, hope, charity, and love (and a repentent heart), with an eye single to the glory of God, qualifies you for the work of God.
►We should live with an eternal mind-set, living in the spirit.
►Don’t let the world define who you are or what is good, rather let God deine who you are and what is good.
►If you are not the sheep of the good shepherd, of what fold are you?
